Nutella Ice Cream

For Christmas 2011 I received a beauty of a Kitchen-Aid Artisan. Ever since I've been DY-ING for a ice cream maker attachment. Well this last Christmas, I got it baby! Sadly enough its taken me almost a month to get a recipe that I like and the ingredients to make it!
I guess I never realized the process of ice cream making and all the variations. I just saw yummy looking pics on Pinterest and assumed, like when you buy it, that it just appears in your ice cream maker looking and tasting fab.
There are some recipes that call for condensed milk, some that call for cooking and cooling first and some that you don't even need an ice cream maker for.
So after looking around I came across this recipe designed with the attachment in mind.
Started out with the ingredients...only 7! So simple- right up my alley.
whole milk
sugar
Nutella
vanilla
heavy cream
& chocolate chips
(the original recipe also says you can add chopped hazelnuts but I didn't have them on hand.)

Whisk the ingredients together (minus the choc chips)
Pour into attachment. Make sure that its been in the freezer for more than 16 hours or so or else it won't work. Set it to speed 2 for twenty minutes and BOOM. The best thing since...well since I discovered homemade ice cream.

Stir in the chips and maybe the hazelnuts. It comes out as a soft serve consistency so put it in the fridge for a couple hours and let it firm up.
YUM!

I'm hoping to find some more recipes (maybe for something a little less caloric!)
Have you ever made your own ice cream? What kind was it? Share with me!

Thanks to Got Mixer I now have a great new place to discover new ways to use my mixer. Thanks for the recipes!

  1. I have never made my own ice cream, but this looks good! I feel you on using only 7 ingredients. The easier to make the better :) Heather
