Merci

Coat: Old Navy (old)
Scarf: Kohls similar
Plaid: Gap on sale!
Boots: Avenue
Sweater: F21
Leggings: Old Navy (old)
Bag: NY&Co

I'm not sure if this would pass as radiant orchid or maybe more of a vibrant fuchsia, but for now, its my color of the year. This coat is a favorite of mine when it comes down to the chilly New England winters. I suppose long car coats are not meant for 5'1" frames but to that I say "Have you ever experienced -6 degree weather??" The length of this coat is perfect for me to wear my tall boots therefore providing another layer against the frigid temps.
I have a ton of scarves that would surprisingly coordinate with this color so its no surprise that I wear it often.
I saw this sweater before my birthday and quickly fell in love. Its long, its soft, its warm. Its perfect.

What are your favorite get warm pieces for the frigid temps? How are you staying cozy during the Polar Vortex?

So mad....

So MAD! I had a post scheduled for Monday (and linkups) and I've been promoting and excited about it....and its lost. I stayed up late to write (type) and edit the pics...and its lost. Its gone.
Like it never existed. (Well almost, because Bloglovin recognized it and I have recorded page views....but whatev)
If you have seen this outfit, my bad.
I hate you blogger.
Hatechu.
So, to make me happy again I'm including lots of happiness in this post including an arm party, yellow and a potential giveaway!!
First, I wore this skirt for a birthday party on a beautiful Saturday last week.
The weather was lovely and so is this skirt, esp at the $7.50 price tag! As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to pair the yellow with blue and this is a shirt I found while I was spring cleaning! SCORE!
To match, I added a neutral shoe and a glam arm party cause...why not?

Skirt w.belt- Charlotte Russe
Nails- Gelish Up in the Blue
and a sexy engagement ring

kinda grainy...oh well.
Shoes: XOXO
Shirt: Old Navy (old)
Necklace: Tiffany

Top 2- Charlotte Russe (recent)
Bottom 3- Alex and Ani

And now for some giveaway love!! Hip Hip Hooray!
Everyday I'm learning something new about blogging and page promoting etc., etc.
I know that GFC is ending its reign soon and I would love a way to keep everyone up to date.
I'm not asking for much...just some friends on Facebook!
When PolkaDots & Lace reaches 50 likes (that is it just 50- see how easy?!) I will host a Rafflecopter giveaway for a $25 Target gift card. Who doesn't love free money?
(maybe this baby...)

Okay, who doesn't love TARGET!?

White Hot Summer

Seems like everyone is busting out the LWD these days and some of my favorite stores are promoting the white denim (which I've been a fan of for a while). While I don't have any white outfits of my own to post I'm definitely taking notes over on my new Pinterest board dedicated to white. I love the look of a washed out denim jacket or vest with white bottoms and the always classic jeans and white tee. I find myself most attracted to a white concert tee and white denim with some booties topped off with a vest. Maxi skirts and dresses are another simply casual way to wear the trend. Whats your favorite way to rock white this summer? Comment or send me links to your Pinterest inspiration pages so I can follow you too!!

Poppy Dots

Sweater: Old Navy
Crops: Old Navy
Shoes: Jessica Simpson via Marshalls (old)
Blazer: via Target

I'm sneaking in a little print mixing today!
Ya see that!? I knew I loved these shoes from that first sighting at Marshalls. #fabfound
Polka dots are my weakness and poppy red is just so damn fun! Plus the shape of the shoulders on the blazer make it a little more structured and balance out the more casual shape of the bottoms.
I had to do a wider photo cause I am in full spring mode and will stay out every night to watch the sunset colors change in the sky. Its peaceful and its my meditating moment.

Cool & Comfortable

Sunnies: Vegas gift shop
Tee: Old Navy
Jacket: via Target
Jeans: Old Navy
Shoes: Aerosoles via Macys (old)
Belt: via Target
Watch: via Target

It has been sunny and dry around these parts and just a little bit on the chilly side. I'm in the middle of "No Money May" (a phrase coined by a friend of mine). Now it has a completely different meaning for her than it does for me, as I'm adjusting to a new pay schedule and working hard at some debt reduction, meaning I have zero denero.
So I've been falling back on some of my favorite comfy classics like these vintage-y T's and skinny jeans older than my dog.
I love wearing heels, but comfy flats like these Aerosoles, are made of the stuff my feet thank me for. And they're perfect for running around town.
I'm obsessed with this jacket that I picked up on clearance at Tar-jay and I am wearing it with everything!
Leopard accessories are something no girl should live without. Just see my collection. Even my watch has a leopard face so in an effort to print mix I threw in some stripes down low.
I'm still a little shy about print mixing...I've read to try it in small doses and yet I'm still afraid to step out of the house! Maybe I just don't have the right pieces...any thoughts?
What is it about styling that stumps you?
Tell me! I'd love to brainstorm with you!

Peacock Jewels

Top: Old navy
Jeggings: Old Navy Rockstar
Shoes: Shoedazzle
Necklace: Old Navy (in store only)
Earrings: Old Navy (in store only)
Bracelet: Alex and Ani

I didn't really notice until I was editing the photos but I look like a peacock! Not that I mind too much cause I love these colors! I have a plethora of blues and light greens in my closet including a maxi dress with almost the exact colors as this outfit.

I was inspired by a photo I originally saw on Facebook then Pinterest then again on the delightful Kacies Kloset to pair these pieces for a dinner downtown, and it was the perfect excuse to wear these shoes. I adore them so much that I just take them out to look at sometimes.
Ok, I kid. But really they're adorbs and the perfect heel height.
I just gotta break them in a little more- there was some baby toe pinching going on that night. =)
ouchie.

For a girl who used to wear only one color at a time, I've embraced color blocking with open arms!
What trends or style tips have you fallen for since blogging? Or Pinterest? Pinterest has been HUGE in the world of style inspiration, no?

Sheer Dots

Top: Old Navy
Tank: Target
Pants: Target (so old)
Boots: via PayHalf
Bracelets: Alex and Ani
Necklace: Tiffany's

This is one of my favorite shirts right now, however I hate that I am constantly cutting loose threads from the seams after every wash. Regardless, it matches everything and pairs perfectly with these jeans and boots for a casual night at the mall for dinner and browsing.
The neon belt is required to offset the neutral colors in the rest of the outfit. I loved wearing these jeans that I re-discovered while spring cleaning.
Exceeeept- the fly would not stay up! I had to run to Target for an emergency safety pin stash! I'm loving the worn in feel of the jeans but I might have to say ~sayonara!~ because my name is not Lindsay Lohan- I do not want to show you my skivvies.
I've also noticed a big trend in my closet- sheer shirts. I've been collecting them since the fall I guess.
Do you have a trend that you're not consciously aware that you're drawn to?

Spring in my Step...

I tried my hand at outdoor pics this week. Who doesn't love a little fresh air style?
I've been feeling very casual lately. ...like so casual I don't mind that I'm wearing scrubs...even when I'm not at work. {lazybum}

Anyway..I'm trying to capitalize on the nice weather when I can. I just LOVE when SJL grills...nothing is better than grilled chicken & veggies with cold 'beahs'. Seems like every day off I have involves "April showers".  So I decided to put a little spring in my step today with my fave warm weather wedges and pants...for a trip to the grocery store. SJL thought I was nuts putting in so much effort to go grocery shopping at a place where PJs and rollers are the norm. Think... peopleofwalmart.com
I was definitely out of place, but I didn't care cause I felt good. And I wanted to dress up...like I said...I've been feeling too casual lately.

Sunnies: Vegas gift shop (I miss Vegas!!)
Pants: LC via Kohls
Wedges: Can't remember...maybe Dots?
Tank: Old Navy
Sweater: Old Navy clearance!
Necklace: Old Navy (recently! Check your stores!)

Sock buns and $1 iced coffees are my current FAVORITES!!

What are you doing to celebrate spring?

I wish I was a little bit taller....

....so I bought these shoes. I always have a hint of doubt when buying shoes online. I have short wide little feet (my mom affectionately calls them Freddy Flintstone feet- thanks for the complex ma).
Anywho, despite my odd shaped feet I.LOVE.SHOES. all kinds of shoes.
Tall ones
skinny ones
flat ones
comfy ones
Narrow ones
 memory gel
open
closed
 peep.
All.kinds.
No discriminating here.
So it shouldn't come as a shock I get subscription emails from all the shoe sites despite my apprehensiveness. (Sole society, shoedazzle, justfab to name a few.) And I'm a sucker for a sale. Enter shoemint and 50% off plus 20% off first purchase. I always browse the sales but I didn't bite the bullet until now.
As my feet are short and stout so am I....
Maxi dresses and skirts are my favorite summer staple. They're just so effortlessly chic. It suddenly became so clear to me I needed these shoes in my life. They scream summer boho and are the perfect neutral.
When they came in I was apprehensive at first.
damntheyaretall
And I'm not great in flats never mind adding height. But as I broke them in around the house (final sale- no turning back!) I was surprisingly comfortable. They didn't make my feet ache like other heels and the chunkier heel + platform made for a {sort of} stability. They're slightly long for my foot but the ankle strap keeps me feeling secure. The only real issue i had was with stairs but that's not new for me. I'm generally a baby steps kinda girl.
I cannot wait for the weather to stay warm so I can wear these a million and one ways. =]

P.s. does anyone else remember this song? I couldn't stop singing the hook as I meandered around the house in these beauties. It resonates with me....

If you like these shoes- check for them in your size! Or if you want to join the site just shoot me a message with your email and I'll send you a link!
I'd love to know- where do you buy your shoes? Online? Sales? Always in store?
And follow follow follow!
I'll love ya long time and...chances are I'm probably already following you!

I seem to have a little nude shoe obsession.

P.S. I just bought a bottle of Biotin to help with hair and nail care (since I flat iron and use chemicals on them nearly every day). Anyone else use supplements? Do they help? And I'm dying to try the new spray and go lotion from Vaseline. Do you think its for real?
