I wish I was a little bit taller....

....so I bought these shoes. I always have a hint of doubt when buying shoes online. I have short wide little feet (my mom affectionately calls them Freddy Flintstone feet- thanks for the complex ma).
Anywho, despite my odd shaped feet I.LOVE.SHOES. all kinds of shoes.
Tall ones
skinny ones
flat ones
comfy ones
Narrow ones
 memory gel
open
closed
 peep.
All.kinds.
No discriminating here.
So it shouldn't come as a shock I get subscription emails from all the shoe sites despite my apprehensiveness. (Sole society, shoedazzle, justfab to name a few.) And I'm a sucker for a sale. Enter shoemint and 50% off plus 20% off first purchase. I always browse the sales but I didn't bite the bullet until now.
As my feet are short and stout so am I....
Maxi dresses and skirts are my favorite summer staple. They're just so effortlessly chic. It suddenly became so clear to me I needed these shoes in my life. They scream summer boho and are the perfect neutral.
When they came in I was apprehensive at first.

And I'm not great in flats never mind adding height. But as I broke them in around the house (final sale- no turning back!) I was surprisingly comfortable. They didn't make my feet ache like other heels and the chunkier heel + platform made for a {sort of} stability. They're slightly long for my foot but the ankle strap keeps me feeling secure. The only real issue i had was with stairs but that's not new for me. I'm generally a baby steps kinda girl.
I cannot wait for the weather to stay warm so I can wear these a million and one ways. =]

P.s. does anyone else remember this song? I couldn't stop singing the hook as I meandered around the house in these beauties. It resonates with me....

If you like these shoes- check for them in your size! Or if you want to join the site just shoot me a message with your email and I'll send you a link!
I'd love to know- where do you buy your shoes? Online? Sales? Always in store?
And follow follow follow!
I'll love ya long time and...chances are I'm probably already following you!

Touch of Pink

Dress: Target\ Shoes: Candies via Kohls\ Belt: Target (old)
Clutch: Payless(fall 12)\ Blazer: Old Navy\ Necklace: Charming Charlie (old)

Went to an anniversary party last weekend and wore this dress. I fell for the color and knew that pairing it with pink accessories would be the perfect for a party. These shoes were a wildcard for me I wore them here but I became stuck with what else to pair them with. Thrilled that I could wear them again.

I am always looking for places and outfits to wear this necklace with. I love the boldness of it, but I have a hard time coordinating it, like the shoes. So I guess you could call this a "lucky" outfit. I love the fit of the dress- not too tight and not too stiff.
Had a great time at the party, and as always, loved dressing up.

Any ideas how I'd pair this dress with more casual items? I certainly do not want this to be the last time I wear it this season!

Spring Break!

No, I'm not going on vacation. I have to wait a while for that. But this is what I'd pack for a week away with my toes in the water and a warm breeze in my hair, the sun shining down on me....ahhh if I close my eyes...I can almost feel it
I'm glad I pinned this swimsuit because when I went to look at it again...it was sold out. No where to be found on the website. And the same thing happened last summer. I saw it I thought- oh cute but not what I'm looking for. Then I thought about it some more and **POOF** none left.
This is why I buy things when I love them cause if I think about it, its never there when I go back. At least thats what I tell my fiance. Its all very logical.
and of course i'd need a new cover up. natch.
some havianas
havianas-havianas slim animals flip flop
shades

sunscreen and great lotion/ bronzer

A day dress

with wedges

a night dress

with heels

night bag

In theory I could pack all of this in a carry on and avoid any bag fees but in reality- I'd have a million more pairs of everything cause who knows what mood I'll be in when I get dressed that day and god forbid I don't have what I want when I want it.
This is the trouble with packing and traveling.
Thank baby J my fiance is a patient man.
=)

Whats in your spring break bag- real or imagined?
And where would you/ are you going?
Come on make me jealous!!

1 Sheep, 2 Sheep, 3 Sheep

I wore this sweater to a ladies luncheon with my aunties and mom for Grams birthday last week.
Originally, I wore this outfit out to dinner with friends a while back and received lots of positive feedback on my little lambs and thought it'd be kitschy for lunch with the matriarch of the fam.
It was a hit and I love this sweater not only because I'm comfortable but it makes a statement too (albeit a sleepy one perhaps).

I bundled up with a black blazer and purple scarf. I think I may retire my winter coats...most of them anyway. I refuse to think that it will remain cold this month. This Coach was one of my first splurges when I became a nurse, before I bought a house, therefore, I treasure it.

LPD

The Little pink dress! The only thing better than a LBD is a LPD because...well its pink. Any shade of pink counts but I'm really digging hot pink (and that tangerine color below). And who doesn't love sequins?!

The LPD can be worn casually on the weekends with this shoe or to go out dancing with your girlfriends (Hell-OH sequins!). You can have just one and dress it up or down like the shirt-dress (again I'm coming back to this one) with just the change of shoes. Booties and tights can make it appropriate for now and the color alone is perfect for spring and summer!

I don't own very many but dresses are so versatile and truly fem- I'm trying to add more to my wardrobe this year.

What sorts of items are you wanting to add to your wardrobe that can be used over and over again?

I just can't help but love the orange too!

Date night

For Valentines Day this year my fiance and I took a day off of life in the middle of the week and went to Foxwoods. He likes to play tables and I like to play dress up. =)
We went to David Burke for a yummy filet mignon....the one time a year I get such an expensive cut of meat is when we come here for an anniversary or holiday.
After playing some roulette and mingling with all the other couples that were there for the romantic night we went bowling at the High Roller Lanes which was so fun! Very different from the "typical" local lanes. There was a DJ and videos playing and the couches were a far cry from the plastic seating I'm used to! Unfortunately I left my camera in the room and only got one snap in. If you ever visit Foxwoods make sure to carve out some time for bowling. So FUN!

Top: Old Navy
(check the stores clearance section for deeper discounts! I think this one was $10 or less for me)
Shorts: Elle
Shoes: Payless (old) similar, similar
Bracelets: Alex and Ani
Necklace: Tiffany's

I love dressing up when we go to the casinos, even if I'm not going to the clubs and bars. The top is loose and casual and the shorts have the cute leather detail that acts as a belt. The shoes have a short heel which was perfect for all the walking we did.

I just had to share a pic of my hair- new cut and color- and I loved how it came out!

What did you wear for Valentines Day? Or your anniversary or holiday? What did you do?

Rawr

Shirt: Not available online check stores.
Jeans: not available in this color- check stores, similar
Shoes: same, similar, flats, sale

I rocked this fierce shirt for a friends bday event last month.
Hibachi and karaoke...how fun?!
I'm unfortunately the kind of girl that needs something new for every event even though I have an overflowing closet. Its something I recognize and need to work on yet...its an endearing quality no?
I went to Kohls originally looking for LCs red blazer. I was inspired by a blog post on LaurenConrad.com where one of her writers styled a red blazer four ways
(How cute is she?!)
The blazer was not at my local store and unavailable in my size at the time per the kiosk, so I had to rethink my strategy.
I came across this top on the clearance rack and was fascinated by the colors. In general I'd think something like this was a little too busy but the colors are what attracted me. That and the material which is silky in front and jersey in the back, and the relaxed cut is something that I enjoy on days I'm not feeling tip top.
I had just received the jeans in the mail and thought they'd be perfect.
Now, what shoes to wear?
I could have gone the safe route and went with classic nude. But I was feeling daring and fierce at that point and thought-- lets scope out the shoe scene.
BAM!
Clearance pumps for $10 (with card and coupon).
Of course, I wanted these originally. No dice.
I love the design and the heels not too high that I wouldn't be able to wear them for a night out.

I've never really looked at Rock and Republic when shopping but this shirt and those neon shoes have made me keep my eyes out for more finds. Have you ever overlooked a brand only to find something later on that has made you change your mind?

Lets Talk Shoes...

As you all may have known Payless had their BOGO sale last month. And I of course had to take advantage of it. I have two weddings and a bridal shower plus rehearsal dinner, 3 concerts and other various nights out to attend. Plus its a new season which means new shoes styles!! One major item I had on my list was boots. Tall goregous riding boots. But thats a whole different post!

Anywho, I went over to payless and originally got these two pairs: Menswear Wedge, and these beauties.
I purchased the wedges because they were super cute and on trend for the fall and the tall and sexys were to go with my bridesmaids dress. (the dresses are floor length so no one will see the shoes but I wanted something sassy.) However, when I got home the shoes didn't compliment the dress as well as I thought. And the wedges...I kept them around a whole month and still haven't found an outfit to match.

Halfway through September I went to another local Payless where I found these two deals! One was $20 and the other $10 so with the deal I purchased two more pairs for less than the price of the original snake prints! Basically they're the same shoe but in a more flattering color. I chose the gold glitter because they are so fun and I do not want to give up the nude because they are classic and were cheap! By this time my fiance had caught on to the shoe boxes piling up and said "You will return three of those pairs right?" weeeelllll....

In the meantime I was killing time before another wedding out of state and stumbled across another payless. Happenstance or fate? Well I bought these loves to go with this dress amongst everything else in my closet. (excuse the bedroom mess it was right before the wedding rehersal and you know how it goes with you're getting ready. everything. everywhere.)
So now I have five pairs of new shoes from Payless and I want to return two. I returned the snake print ones despite the fact that they were beautiful I had already decided to keep the nude neutrals and the fun gold glitters and the snake just didn't fit into my closet. A week later I decided the Menswear isnpired wedges did not fit into my closet either and so I wanted to return those. Low and behold I can't find the receipt. They were on the same slip and I've checked every pocketbook and clutch I've used between then and now and cannot find it anywhere. I probably had a CLEAN ALL THE THINGS moment and accidentally threw it out. So now I get to exchange them in return for another pair. Again...happenstance or fate?

Now I'm constantly looking for a new pair. Booties maybe? Or wedges in a different shade, perhaps a smaller wedge. I do need a pair of red high heels to go with my Kellie Pickler shirt and so I can dance in the living room in them. Oxblood is also huge for the fall but I'm not sure I have anything in the closet to match. I think a casual boot may be more fitting for me. Or a biker style boot. Oh the possibilities.

All sexy shoes can be found at Payless. Not all of them are available in all store and not all are shown online.
