I'm totally loving the hair scarf trend that's going around this spring/summer. I'm just having a hard time finding a quality band that I like and is worth the price. Its all about investing in your closet right?? So with my recent sign up to Etsy...I am in total heaven! I found so many great shops with great pricing I can't wait to shop for head bands, pave link bracelets, statement necklaces, neck scarfs...so many unique accessories!

It has been sunny and dry around these parts and just a little bit on the chilly side. I'm in the middle of "No Money May" (a phrase coined by a friend of mine). Now it has a completely different meaning for her than it does for me, as I'm adjusting to a new pay schedule and working hard at some debt reduction, meaning I have zero denero.

So I've been falling back on some of my favorite comfy classics like these vintage-y T's and skinny jeans older than my dog. 

I love wearing heels, but comfy flats like these Aerosoles, are made of the stuff my feet thank me for. And they're perfect for running around town.

I'm obsessed with this jacket that I picked up on clearance at Tar-jay and I am wearing it with everything!

Leopard accessories are something no girl should live without. Just see my collection. Even my watch has a leopard face so in an effort to print mix I threw in some stripes down low. 

I'm still a little shy about print mixing...I've read to try it in small doses and yet I'm still afraid to step out of the house! Maybe I just don't have the right pieces...any thoughts?

I went to Old Navy to shop away some feelings the other night, and well I just had to use my Old Navy Bucks...and you'll never guess what I found...

Baubles!

Old Navy is trying their hands at accessories!

And I have to say I loved it all. 

I had such a hard time choosing, I must have circled the racks a zillion times. After about a half hour I finally settled on two necklaces, a pair of earrings, and two bracelets. (And my gorgeous sister is rocking a pair of snake earrings that I'm thinking of "accidentally" forgetting to return to her! oopsie)

There was headbands and hair clips in every color under the sun. 

Plus, the price was right!!

I didn't see anything over $12 and it was all color coordinated and on trend for the spring.

The rings were available in all sizes, which is awesome for thick digit girls like me. 

The personnel told me that only certain stores are trying it, so keep an eye out at a store near you. 

 I love the idea of the mixed materials...soft suede woven with a gold chain.I believe this came in a silver tone as well.  

this is my favorite! I love dainty little bracelets!!

these are my second favorites. they came in dark blue, graphite, black, lavender, and pale pink. 

I wanted a blue necklace and couldn't decide between this one and a solid blue but the other one was a bit smaller.  

maybe this is my favorite....I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this. 

Red Hot

I've mentioned before how reading this blog post on LaurenConrad.com has inspired me to purchase a red blazer as a spring transitional piece. I have a lot of the basics- the polka dot and striped tops, leopard pieces and standout black blouses. I could work wonders with this piece!

I ended up finding a similar blazer at Target recently as the LC jacket was sold out at Kohls. I can't begin to tell you how excited I was. The color and fit is perfect to me. 

Then when I got home and started reading 'the bible' -AKA the InStyle March issue- I saw this article on red. I knew then it was a great addition to my closet.

Red just brings happiness to my life and this jacket is so comfortable I can't help but feel confident and sexy in it!

If I didn't wear scrubs....

I'd be in heaven. Seriously, I'd prob have to remove the bed in my spare room to make another closet rack and bureau or get a bigger house for the closet space. 

I love dressing up. Sometimes it depresses me to know I get to wear shapeless baggy scrubs everyday. Then of course there are benefits on days I roll out of bed late, throw up my hair, shake out the scrubs from the laundry basket and go. And sneakers are definitely comfy. Huge win for my feet. 

When I go shopping I see cute skirts or trouser ankle pants or even a modern looking suit and I think damn I wish I could buy that. I own one pencil skirt. And that's only because I used it as a Halloween costume two years ago. I believe pencil skirts belong in an office. Don't get me wrong, there are some cute ones. I love seeing women with curves rocking them all day and making them work for night, but I can't justify buying one without knowing I'll wear it more than once a month. 

Now blazers, I love.

 Anyone who knows me knows that my going out "uniform" consists of a long tee, blazer, skinny jeans and heels. And fab hair. 

I will rock a blazer from fall to spring and carry one in the car for chilly summer nights. I have all colors, patterns, and textures (currently obsessing over this one and this one too).

I prefer bold jackets so that I can utilize neutral basics, but I have to switch it up now and then and go with basic tops for some jazzy pants or shoes. (yes, I said jazzy- deal.)

What I'd Wear to Work by meghan-ouellette featuring a pencil skirt

I love this look first, for the colors. Cobalt is having a moment and its always been my favorite color to wear so I am embracing it with open arms! The shoes may be a little risque for some work settings but I think the heel and the black on black tones them down a bit. My personal preference is to balance tight with loose and a pencil skirt is meant to show off curves so a tucked in flowy blouse with a menswear style jacket is a good balance.

This is for those cooler New England days. The pants are loose and comfy and the top is silky. I'd love a sweater cardi with this look but I went with the more classic blazer in a similar tone to look profesh but cute. The two tone shoes are another great trend but the length of the pants and the low heel make them work appropriate. And wrap watches are my ultimate fave accessory other than my Alex and Ani bracelets.

August Challenge/ Charming Charlie haul!

Anyone else get just overwhelmed in life? with life? with everything? From work to school to relationships, friendships, family? Everyone is getting married or having babies or moving away. Raising children, raising a puppy, planning a wedding, planning a friends wedding and all the showers and parties. That is just me. I know that everyone has their own set of overwhelming life challenges. 

Well one of my coping mechanisms is shopping. 

I take retail therapy literally.  

Recently, as I was trying to symbolically re-order my life I noticed that I bought the same shirt and didn't even realize it. Same shirt same price same store. That's how impulsive my shopping habits have become. 

After this little revelation, combined with the many events I have coming up this month I decided to make my own challenge. 

I'm not going to shop in August. No clothes. no sales.No "i worked overtime so I have some cash to blow" Nope. None of that. I was also inspired by a blog I came across (which of course I can't find now) in which she challenged herself to not shop for a month and succeeded. 

This isn't exactly a "remix". Though I'm sure when the holidays roll around I'll be interested in that. I've had some time to map out a plan. Meaning: I've done a lot of shopping in July so I may be wearing items that are new to me. I also may have went to Charming Charlie on the 31st and came back with a haul. =/

Anyway I've employed my fiance to help strengthen my will power but I'd love to hear from you! 

Have you ever tried to not shop for a month? Have you succeeded? What are your tactics to reducing and resisting temptation? (also, am i crazy for trying this now with all the back to school sales and summer clearances happening??)

And now...some pictures...

this is my new clothing rack/shelving. Because I have so many articles of clothing my cheaper version cracked in half. And my clothes were everywhere. EVERYWHERE. And that's Roxie making a guest appearance. 

This is the finished product. About and hour and a half and lots of sweat later (it was so muggy this night). Even the fiance said to me "you must really love this because you keep coming back in here. It gave me a sense of accomplishment and a sense of "ahhh" if you will. Just knowing what I have is so easily accessible now and (hopefully) I won't be buying duplicates anytime soon. =)

This was my Charming Charlie haul! I savored each and every second in the store because I knew it'd be a while before we met again. I'll compare it to when you know you're starting a diet on Monday so you savor each and every bite of the last "cheat" meal. I could seriously spend buttloads in this store. There's not only jewels but clothing, shoes and purses too. 

In retrospect I should have purchased the jeweled collar shirt I saw but I was way too enamored with the jewelry. So I'm thinking a DIY is in order! August should be so much fun!
