Etsy

I'm totally loving the hair scarf trend that's going around this spring/summer. I'm just having a hard time finding a quality band that I like and is worth the price. Its all about investing in your closet right?? So with my recent sign up to Etsy...I am in total heaven! I found so many great shops with great pricing I can't wait to shop for head bands, pave link bracelets, statement necklaces, neck scarfs...so many unique accessories!
Here they are with a few items on my wishlists...

Please check out these shops...these ladies have such talent and flair for the trends!!

Maxi Love

In keeping with the summery trend theme today I'd like to talk maxi. Now, I am a curvy petite, so some people may not believe that a maxi skirt or dress would be good for a gal with my shape and stature. However, I just cannot get enough of them!
Maxi's epitomize effortless comfort for the spring, summer and fall. You can buy one in the beginning of the season and still be able to wear it well into the next season. With different jewels and shoes, the possibilities are endless!
Check out my new Pinterest board Maxi Dress Love for some of my favorite pics and inspiration on how to style the perfect maxi.
Currently I'm on the hunt for a loose and flow-y black skirt, which you think would be easy to find right? Nope! The hunt continues...
Here's a quick look at how I've styled a few of my favorite pieces from my closet and a preview of a newer skirt I'm not quite sold on yet.

Maxi: Charlotte Russe (old)
Vest: Converse One Star via Target
Belt: Dots ($8!)

Maxi: Old Navy (last seen here)
Gladiators: JustFab (old)
Tee: Gap
Necklace: via Amazon
Toes:  Nicole by OPI in Strike a Pose

Tee: Old Navy (last summer)
Nails: Gelish- You Glare I Glow (avail @ Sally Beauty Stores)
Side note: I bought these pieces to wear together originally and when I paired them SJL told me I looked like I was Napoleon Dynamite and I promptly switched to the white tee... but I still like the graphic tee with the ikat. men...

Tee: Gap
Dress: (worn as skirt) Charlotte Russe
Belt: Dots
Shoes: Dots
Dress: Charlotte Russe
Vest: Rock and Republic via Kohls

Sorry for the blurry pics! I didn't realize I was fidgeting so much until I was editing!
 whoops!
Aaaaand this is my new skirt. I bought it and tried it on at home....I'm not completely sold. I'm in need of a black skirt but this is not what I had in mind. Is it too "young"? Or is it because my legs are showing and I don't believe that's what a maxi skirt is for?
I'm thinking more flow and less lace.
But its lace and its feminine.
I'm torn help me out
I've styled it a little up and a little down...what do you think?
Your comments are always welcome! I love hearing from different points of view!

Tee: Old Navy (vintage style is my favorite!)
Skirt: Charlotte Russe-  love this
Shoes: Target (clearance! $6)
Top: Mossimo via Target
Belt: vintage from my Memere (I love saying that I have a vintage piece!!)
Sandals: KMart (love this style so much I bought 2!)

White Hot Summer

Seems like everyone is busting out the LWD these days and some of my favorite stores are promoting the white denim (which I've been a fan of for a while). While I don't have any white outfits of my own to post I'm definitely taking notes over on my new Pinterest board dedicated to white. I love the look of a washed out denim jacket or vest with white bottoms and the always classic jeans and white tee. I find myself most attracted to a white concert tee and white denim with some booties topped off with a vest. Maxi skirts and dresses are another simply casual way to wear the trend. Whats your favorite way to rock white this summer? Comment or send me links to your Pinterest inspiration pages so I can follow you too!!

Peacock Jewels

Top: Old navy
Jeggings: Old Navy Rockstar
Shoes: Shoedazzle
Necklace: Old Navy (in store only)
Earrings: Old Navy (in store only)
Bracelet: Alex and Ani

I didn't really notice until I was editing the photos but I look like a peacock! Not that I mind too much cause I love these colors! I have a plethora of blues and light greens in my closet including a maxi dress with almost the exact colors as this outfit.

I was inspired by a photo I originally saw on Facebook then Pinterest then again on the delightful Kacies Kloset to pair these pieces for a dinner downtown, and it was the perfect excuse to wear these shoes. I adore them so much that I just take them out to look at sometimes.
Ok, I kid. But really they're adorbs and the perfect heel height.
I just gotta break them in a little more- there was some baby toe pinching going on that night. =)
ouchie.

For a girl who used to wear only one color at a time, I've embraced color blocking with open arms!
What trends or style tips have you fallen for since blogging? Or Pinterest? Pinterest has been HUGE in the world of style inspiration, no?

Sheer Dots

Top: Old Navy
Tank: Target
Pants: Target (so old)
Boots: via PayHalf
Bracelets: Alex and Ani
Necklace: Tiffany's

This is one of my favorite shirts right now, however I hate that I am constantly cutting loose threads from the seams after every wash. Regardless, it matches everything and pairs perfectly with these jeans and boots for a casual night at the mall for dinner and browsing.
The neon belt is required to offset the neutral colors in the rest of the outfit. I loved wearing these jeans that I re-discovered while spring cleaning.
Exceeeept- the fly would not stay up! I had to run to Target for an emergency safety pin stash! I'm loving the worn in feel of the jeans but I might have to say ~sayonara!~ because my name is not Lindsay Lohan- I do not want to show you my skivvies.
I've also noticed a big trend in my closet- sheer shirts. I've been collecting them since the fall I guess.
Do you have a trend that you're not consciously aware that you're drawn to?

Colorful Tweed

This skirt.
Thiiiis skirt.
I.Love.This.Skirt.
Thats why the hardest thing I had to do was return it.
Yup, returned again. I keep striking out!!
I think this is a fantastic look for the office. Or a job interview (keeping this one in my back pocket, just in case). Its just not practical for me. I'll wear it once, maybe twice before summer and thats it.

AND
The shirt- despite its size (xxl) - clearly did not fit and had this funky ruched tail in the back. I had to wear a tank underneath for the pictures, there was just no getting it together. The colors and print matched so well with the skirt, I had to at least try. I also paired it with a chambray and loved it. Plus, it gave me the chance to wear these shoes I had forgotten put aside in my closet for a (long) while.
I've seen a couple other bloggers with similar outfits and knew I had to try.

Soooo cute right?
Well, as much as it hurt me, I had to return the outfit.
Trust me, I debated the whole ride to the store. Ask my sister. She was tired of listening.
So I returned it for a more practical "Meg-friendly" outfit...or two. =)

What do you think? Should I have kept the skirt and looked for a new shirt?
As you can see, I'm still torn up inside.
Until next time you pretty little tweed love you.

Touch of Pink

Dress: Target\ Shoes: Candies via Kohls\ Belt: Target (old)
Clutch: Payless(fall 12)\ Blazer: Old Navy\ Necklace: Charming Charlie (old)

Went to an anniversary party last weekend and wore this dress. I fell for the color and knew that pairing it with pink accessories would be the perfect for a party. These shoes were a wildcard for me I wore them here but I became stuck with what else to pair them with. Thrilled that I could wear them again.

I am always looking for places and outfits to wear this necklace with. I love the boldness of it, but I have a hard time coordinating it, like the shoes. So I guess you could call this a "lucky" outfit. I love the fit of the dress- not too tight and not too stiff.
Had a great time at the party, and as always, loved dressing up.

Any ideas how I'd pair this dress with more casual items? I certainly do not want this to be the last time I wear it this season!
