Who's Ready for a Party??

Its that time of year again! All the festivities have started...there's going to be a party or gathering pretty much every weekend from now until the new year...at least for me anyway. I've got four birthdays (including my own), two anniversary's, all the major holidays and tons of friends and family to catch up with- I'm sure you all know how that goes.
Well there's one party I'm very excited to attend... PJ holiday/birthday party!! I don't know if I'm more excited that it will be SJL's bday or that I get to wear PJs all night which means eat/drink till my stomachs hearts content!
So of course I have to start looking at some presentable pajama attire. I don't think ratty old tee's and mens sweats are going to cut it.
Initially I wanted to get something really funny like these, but I'm trying to spend $ on things that I'll get my dollars worth from. If I'm being honest I'll never wear those again despite the cuteness quotient.
So here I go in search of appropriate budget friendly PJs that I will proudly wear out in public! (Well- from the house to the car and back counts right?)

Which ones would you chose? Do you have a favorite or fun pair I should know about?
Tell me! I love hearing from you!

On a side note I'd like to thank everyone for still popping in from time to time. I know I haven't been blogging for a month or so now...I'm trying to find time for my hobby between going back to school and working full time and having a life! I miss you all and I promise that I'm keeping up with you all as best as I can. Does anyone have any advice for how to balance it all? Yikes!

I wish I was a little bit taller....

....so I bought these shoes. I always have a hint of doubt when buying shoes online. I have short wide little feet (my mom affectionately calls them Freddy Flintstone feet- thanks for the complex ma).
Anywho, despite my odd shaped feet I.LOVE.SHOES. all kinds of shoes.
Tall ones
skinny ones
flat ones
comfy ones
Narrow ones
 memory gel
open
closed
 peep.
All.kinds.
No discriminating here.
So it shouldn't come as a shock I get subscription emails from all the shoe sites despite my apprehensiveness. (Sole society, shoedazzle, justfab to name a few.) And I'm a sucker for a sale. Enter shoemint and 50% off plus 20% off first purchase. I always browse the sales but I didn't bite the bullet until now.
As my feet are short and stout so am I....
Maxi dresses and skirts are my favorite summer staple. They're just so effortlessly chic. It suddenly became so clear to me I needed these shoes in my life. They scream summer boho and are the perfect neutral.
When they came in I was apprehensive at first.

And I'm not great in flats never mind adding height. But as I broke them in around the house (final sale- no turning back!) I was surprisingly comfortable. They didn't make my feet ache like other heels and the chunkier heel + platform made for a {sort of} stability. They're slightly long for my foot but the ankle strap keeps me feeling secure. The only real issue i had was with stairs but that's not new for me. I'm generally a baby steps kinda girl.
I cannot wait for the weather to stay warm so I can wear these a million and one ways. =]

P.s. does anyone else remember this song? I couldn't stop singing the hook as I meandered around the house in these beauties. It resonates with me....

If you like these shoes- check for them in your size! Or if you want to join the site just shoot me a message with your email and I'll send you a link!
I'd love to know- where do you buy your shoes? Online? Sales? Always in store?
And follow follow follow!
I'll love ya long time and...chances are I'm probably already following you!
(I may be a blog stalker)

Colorful Tweed

This skirt.
Thiiiis skirt.
I.Love.This.Skirt.
Thats why the hardest thing I had to do was return it.
Yup, returned again. I keep striking out!!
I think this is a fantastic look for the office. Or a job interview (keeping this one in my back pocket, just in case). Its just not practical for me. I'll wear it once, maybe twice before summer and thats it.

AND
The shirt- despite its size (xxl) - clearly did not fit and had this funky ruched tail in the back. I had to wear a tank underneath for the pictures, there was just no getting it together. The colors and print matched so well with the skirt, I had to at least try. I also paired it with a chambray and loved it. Plus, it gave me the chance to wear these shoes I had forgotten put aside in my closet for a (long) while.
I've seen a couple other bloggers with similar outfits and knew I had to try.

Soooo cute right?
Well, as much as it hurt me, I had to return the outfit.
Trust me, I debated the whole ride to the store. Ask my sister. She was tired of listening.
So I returned it for a more practical "Meg-friendly" outfit...or two. =)

What do you think? Should I have kept the skirt and looked for a new shirt?
As you can see, I'm still torn up inside.
Until next time you pretty little tweed love you.

How to Wear Spring Now!

I fell for this shirt the moment I saw it. I tried on the tangerine version but ultimately chose the magenta. I'm so ready to wear this in the spring and summer. Its lightweight and comfy.

For now, I'd pair this dress with my favorite wedge boots and some thicker black tights.
And a glass of wine.

Ya know, to warm up.

Shirtdress: Lauren Conrad
Tights: unknown
Boots: Avenue
Necklace: Apt9
Bag: Target (clearance $8 recently)

How are you wearing spring items now?

What I bought for March

(& part of April and maybe May)

yeah...its that bad. When I get bit by the shopping bug that's it...stick a fork in me...my wallets toast. Well ya'll know how bad I want spring. Well in my mind if I buy it...spring will come. And dresses I've been buying. With shoes and bags to match. And jewelry. Ohhh jewelry. So here's a round-up of what I bought:

I bought the red clutch instead of the yellow because the store was sold out but with all the new poppy in my closet I figured I'd get more use out of it. Ditto for the flat black and whites. Now they may not be the floral I fell for, but they're adorable and comfy soooo, whats not to love?

The striped dress I originally wanted in black and white but on a whim went with the teal, because that's how I roll. And I think teal and neon yellow = LOVE.

I'm on the fence about the Old Navy neon flats, the 7's were too tight and the 8's seem a little big but I think (hope) I can deal.

This little guy was love at first sight. I actually had another necklace in mind to pair with the shirtdress but put it back for my little peacock. (It's okay because I have a 30% off coupon that starts in a couple days so you see I'll just go back and get it for a deeper discount. This is how the madness begins!!)
I love every single piece and can't wait to style them all.
You might notice some things are different than my what I want for March post. Well that's because some things have sold out and I am not a patient "lets wait for delivery person" I want what I want. (I know what you're thinking "uh...spoiled much?" I know.Blame my parents.)
However, I am very pleased with my purchases and came home satisfied that I will be content until the end of April/beginning of May when I just know I'll need new summer things. (Which is so not true I just know how my mind works.) That is until I saw that JCP, Kohls and Target are doing collabo's in the coming months and well...I missed out on Prabal Garung cause I was trying to be good and I'm kicking myself in the ass, so if I miss these, I will be destroyed. (too dramatic?) Well I'll try my damnedest to behave and pay off my cards instead of maxing them out. Debt free is the way to be?!

In total I spent a little under $250 with sales, coupon discounts and returns and exchanges. Which is pretty much two months of what I should be spending on clothing, etc.
So its closet remixing time! (And coupon clipping tiiiime!) Who's with me?
Have you ever been on a shopping spree? (duh...stupid question)
What tricks do you use to curb spending and how often do you splurge?
Who budgets for clothing (or anything at all for that matter, I'm terrible!)

P.s. Sorry for the long post- I guess I'm just passionate about my new duds!

Neon & Peacocks

The fiance and I went to dinner at "our place" the other night and I jumped at the chance to wear neon and my new flats. This was of course before the "rain" came in.
(I say this with a touch of bitters, as all week they said our area was going to just get rain. NBD they said. It will pass quick they said...pffttt.)
I am excited for all of the spring trends this year. I've always loved pastels and florals (such a girl I know), and neon is just such fun. I also have a thing for quirky jewels like this necklace and some swan earrings I'm excited to show ya.
What do you think of my necklace?
What trends have you head over heels?

Spring Break!

No, I'm not going on vacation. I have to wait a while for that. But this is what I'd pack for a week away with my toes in the water and a warm breeze in my hair, the sun shining down on me....ahhh if I close my eyes...I can almost feel it
I'm glad I pinned this swimsuit because when I went to look at it again...it was sold out. No where to be found on the website. And the same thing happened last summer. I saw it I thought- oh cute but not what I'm looking for. Then I thought about it some more and **POOF** none left.
This is why I buy things when I love them cause if I think about it, its never there when I go back. At least thats what I tell my fiance. Its all very logical.
and of course i'd need a new cover up. natch.
some havianas
havianas-havianas slim animals flip flop
shades

sunscreen and great lotion/ bronzer

A day dress

with wedges

a night dress

with heels

day bag

night bag

In theory I could pack all of this in a carry on and avoid any bag fees but in reality- I'd have a million more pairs of everything cause who knows what mood I'll be in when I get dressed that day and god forbid I don't have what I want when I want it.
This is the trouble with packing and traveling.
Thank baby J my fiance is a patient man.
=)

Whats in your spring break bag- real or imagined?
And where would you/ are you going?
Come on make me jealous!!

Don't forget me on Instagram and Twitter!!

1 Sheep, 2 Sheep, 3 Sheep

I wore this sweater to a ladies luncheon with my aunties and mom for Grams birthday last week.
Originally, I wore this outfit out to dinner with friends a while back and received lots of positive feedback on my little lambs and thought it'd be kitschy for lunch with the matriarch of the fam.
It was a hit and I love this sweater not only because I'm comfortable but it makes a statement too (albeit a sleepy one perhaps).

I bundled up with a black blazer and purple scarf. I think I may retire my winter coats...most of them anyway. I refuse to think that it will remain cold this month. This Coach was one of my first splurges when I became a nurse, before I bought a house, therefore, I treasure it.

Oxblood & Cream

Went out to lunch with my parents last week and did a little shopping after. I wanted to wear something comfy and stretchy and these pants were perfect. The day wasn't too cold (the sun actually peeked out from the clouds!) so the blazer alone was the perfect layer. Thank god I made it through lunch without getting it dirty! (I'm FAMOUS for that!)
The jewelry is something sentimental as I received it for being a bridesmaid in a friends wedding last fall. It was the perfect length to compliment the basic black tee and it matched the shoes.
My new Vera Smartphone wristlet is a treat I received for Valentines day and I wear it with everything...even if it doesn't necessarily match.
These are my favorite flats. Had them for years. Will be devastated if they die. Please don't die little leopards.
Disregard the rolled up jeans. Mamma needs a sewing machine.

Tee: Gap (similar)
Jeans : Jordache (similar+, similar)
Necklace & Earrings: Charming Charlies (gifted)
